Buzz on Jan. 31,2008

Since my last blog (I love that word) I have been more consitent in my workout that consists of walking 30 minutes three times a week on a treadmill. When the weather permits, I find the time to walk outside, too.
I have found that eating less, while at the same time concentrating on trying to get the fibre that LRH Dietitian Julie Hamre says we need to stive for (30 g per day), indeed has left my hunger satisfied. And those snacks are now more limited to nuts and fruits...and hey, have you tried celery with peanut butter for a snack? I'm finding that it's pretty good tasting and better for me than many other snacks.
We haven't had any scheduled weigh-ins to see how we are doing, but if my home scale means anything I have to say that change for the better is indeed taking place. We'll have to wait for February 28th to find out for sure! After that, I'm looking forward to keeping on with the program of watching (if not actually counting) my calorie intake and continuing on with daily excercise.
When you read this, feel free to comment and also to jump on the bandwaggon to a better awareness of your body. Perhaps I won't need knee surgury if I carry less weight, and if I can raise up my good cholesteral number to a normal level, as well as get my glucouse level right, in the next six months Dr. Joo may be able to keep me off any medications. That's my goal!
