Cancer Center
Lake Region’s new Cancer Care and Research Center presents patients and their families with much more than new construction and a new “look.” The center also offers fresh architectural details that speak of hospitality and comfort.
Earthy colors and expansive windows create pleasing spaces filled with light and warmth. The open design leads to a round, chapel in the center of the building. The chapel provides both a quiet space for patients and families and a distinctive focal point.
A patient navigator serves as more than a facility guide. The navigator helps patients find their way through the world of health care by addressing questions such as: “How do I find out about my insurance coverage? Where does my family stay overnight? When do I find out about my labs?
The center’s holistic approach to care encompasses everything from a family resource library with two computers and helpful educational materials, to restful waiting rooms featuring coffee, snacks, comfortable furniture and television.
The chemo infusion area consists of eight stations – three semiprivate, one private, and four open stations where people can visit with one another. The radiation department consists of private changing rooms and gender-specific waiting rooms. Patients waiting for their radiation appointment enjoy a pleasant view of live bamboo growing below the skylight.
The Positive Image Boutique adds services focused entirely on patient appearance and self-confidence. Here individuals find help getting fitted for prostheses and wigs while learning about make-up application and special products that bring them relief during treatment.
A large community room features a divider creating two rooms complete with ceiling-mounted projectors for PowerPoint or Internet presentations.
The new Cancer Care and Research Center demonstrates an exciting step into the future for Lake Region Healthcare – a regional cancer facility that combines the power of personalized care and world-class technology close to home.
