Grant Guidelines and Priorities
Each year the Foundation targets 5 percent of its unallocated assets to award. Grant applications will be accepted in the spring, with awards presented in October. Of the 5 percent to be awarded, 20 percent will be held for contingency needs through Sept. 30 of the same year.

Supporting Patients in Crisis
- Support cancer patients who are receiving chemotherapy by providing the cost of meals and snacks for those who cannot afford them—$1,000.
- Support the Caring by Sharing employee giving program, which assists hospital employees and volunteers who are going through a personal crisis—$1,000.
Outreach, Wellness and Health Promotion
- Create a fitness program at Athletic Republic for severely obese children—$10,000.
- Organize a Cancer Survivorship Conference in the summer of 2009—$500.
- Sponsor a family fun/healthy living activity in coordination with a Central Lakes Trail promotion—$500.
- Sponsor the 2nd Annual Men’s Health Night—$12,500.
Supporting Annual Capital Projects
- Fund half the salary of an RN dedicated to supporting clinical oncology trials and research—$20,000.
- Purchase a tracking board in the operating room to improve communication—$5,000.
Supporting Community-Based Health Care Programs
- Help create a consumer health section in the Fergus Falls Public Library—$500.
- Purchase the technology needed for community diabetes education presentations—$2,000.
Health Care Workforce Development
- Create scholarships through Fergus Falls Area Dollars for Scholars for nursing and lab students at MSCTC—$5,000, plus an additional $5,000 pledged for 2009.
- Support the medical lab technician program at MSCTC—$25,000.
