LRH Philosophy of Care

The birth of your baby is one of the most exciting events in your life and a moment that you will cherish and remember always. The Birthing Suite at Lake Region Healthcare (LRH) is honored to be a part of this event and will provide you with a high-quality and caring experience supported by perinatal nurses who personalize your care based on your needs and choices.

To welcome your baby into the world, a 16-second music-box-style rendition of Happy Birthday is played throughout the hospital to announce the arrival of the new addition to your family.

Team of Support

You and your family will experience one-on-one care from the medical expertise of physicians, certified nurse anesthesiologists and registered nurses ready to care for you and your baby before, during and after your delivery. We care for you and your baby from the beginning of your pregnancy by offering childbirth and breastfeeding classes. After delivery, LRH staff will monitor and care for both you and your baby to ensure you are both physically and mentally prepared to go home.

Staff training is ongoing. All of the nurses have special training in neonatal care, are certified in neonatal resuscitation and attend ongoing classes for advanced fetal monitoring. There is a certified lactation consultant on staff, and several nurses have been certified as childbirth educators.

The LRH Birthing Suite is more than a basic care nursery. The Birthing Suite is a level II nursery that provides extra care and expertise for babies who experience difficulty adjusting after birth.

Birthing Rooms

Personal attention is what sets the Birthing Suite apart. The rooms don't look like traditional hospital rooms. They're decorated like a home—with decorative wallpaper, soothing colors and soft chairs. LRH boasts four labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDRP) rooms, each with its own whirlpool tub. This gives moms the comfort of staying in one room throughout the labor process. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, and the patients get personal attention and the benefit of the latest technology, including electronic fetal monitors and state-of-the-art centralized monitoring to ensure fetal well-being throughout the labor process.

Because each birthing experience is a special and unique event, it is our goal at Lake Region Healthcare to provide a medically safe environment in an atmosphere that will leave you with warm memories forever.
