Lake Region Healthcare (LRH) has one of the region's most sophisticated operating room facilities. The members of the operating room, pre- and post-surgical teams work with the Anesthesia Department and Surgical/Pediatrics/Outpatient Nursing Unit that helps provide education and nursing care. Members of all three teams have years of training to work with surgical patients, who age from infants to elderly people.
The goal of LRH surgeons and staff is to provide area patients with comprehensive, high-tech, compassionate care in their own community.

Advancing surgical procedures mean most patients come to the hospital in the morning, surgery is done and, after an adequate recovery time, they go home—all in the same day. We have a SameDay Surgery Center designed to get patients into and out of surgery comfortably and efficiently. When they arrive, patients are greeted by a receptionist and given access to a personal locker where they can store their clothes and personal items. Children have toys and games to occupy them and a teddy bear to keep them company. CD players with headphones are available.
Friends or family members accompanying patients can be given a pager so that they feel free to leave the SameDay surgical waiting room and go to other areas of the hospital, like the cafeteria, and know they can be contacted immediately. When patients are in the SameDay Surgery Center, they move seamlessly from pre-op to the operating room to post-op via mobile high-tech surgical chairs that can be adjusted by the patient.
Following the surgical procedure, patients are attended to by a nurse, receiving support and timely care. They are carefully monitored and evaluated before going home.
