Elective Surgeries & Procedures Postponed at LRH and Prairie Ridge due to COVID-19

Tuesday, March 17, 2020

Community news

[Fergus Falls, Morris and Elbow Lake, MN] -

As part of our efforts toward COVID-19 preparedness, Lake Region Healthcare (LRH) and Prairie Ridge Hospital and Health Services (PRHHS) have taken into consideration the recommendations made by the Surgeon General, the Minnesota Hospital Association, the American Hospital Association and the American College of Surgeons. In consultation with the surgeons, providers and administration, the decision has been made to postpone the vast majority of elective patient procedures/surgeries in anticipation of a greater strain on staffing, space, equipment and other resources.

This decision is effective Wednesday, March 18th until further notice. Please know that our medical staff will still be determining on a case-by-case basis if a procedure or surgery needs to be done based on acuity and taking into consideration whether the patient is well enough for a procedure, including age and underlying health factors, particularly given the risks of COVID-19.

All efforts will be made to accommodate patients affected by these changes at the earliest and safest date. If you have questions or to speak to someone about rescheduling, please call:

Lake Region Healthcare Pre-Operative Center: 218-736-8049

Prairie Ridge Hospital and Health Services (Morris): 320-589-4008

Prairie Ridge Hospital and Health Services (Elbow Lake): 218-685-7300

This is a fluid and changing situation and these standards may change to meet community care needs. We are dedicated to the continued care of all patients who are experiencing a broad range of urgent/emergent care needs. The health and safety of each and every patient continues to be our priority. LRH and PRHHS emergency departments will remain open at both facilities for time-sensitive surgeries and procedures.

Thank you for your understanding during these challenging circumstances and for your continued efforts toward prevention and slowing the spread of this virus.
