(Fergus Falls, MN) – Hannah Anderson, RN in Lake Region Healthcare's (LRH) Women & Children’s Health Center, was recently honored with The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses at Lake Region Healthcare.

The award is part of the DAISY Foundation's programs to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day. Her nomination came from grateful patient, Allee Nickolauson. Her nomination read in part: "From the time we got here, Hannah took amazing care of me. She knowledgeable, kind, funny and more....it was a long 36 hours, but Hannah was so encouraging and helpful....The night before we took him home, I was nervous and anxious. Hannah sat down with me and so kind with her words, realness, encouragement and validating my feelings while reassuring me I was doing great. So thankful for how Hannah took care of not only my baby, but my husband and I too."

Hannah started at LRH working as a Unit Clerk in the Emergency Department in January 2008. She moved to an LPN role on Med/Surg in 2010, became an RN in 2011 and stayed on Med/Surg until 2012 when she transitioned to the Women's & Children's Health Center.

The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation is based in Glen Ellen, CA, and was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
