[Fergus Falls, MN] - Lake Region Healthcare (LRH) announced today it has been named a 2022 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. This annual recognition program honors outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX™. Each year, the rural hospitals are analyzed through the lens of the Hospital Strength INDEX, the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance in the United States.

According to Chartis, the top performers named to the list are excelling in managing risk, achieving higher quality, securing better outcomes, increasing patient satisfaction, and operating at a lower cost than their peers. They serve as a benchmark for other rural facilities as they strive to achieve similar results and provide a blueprint for successfully navigating the uncertainty of the new healthcare.

“This award is a very special accomplishment, especially at a time when our healthcare teams are stretched so thin. Amidst a lot of uncertainty and strain they continue to give so much of themselves to care for our community healthcare needs while managing a pandemic,” said CEO, Kent Mattson. “The award belongs to our staff and medical providers who keep showing up 24/7, day after day, with an unwavering commitment to those we serve,” he said.

Based entirely on publicly available data, the INDEX is the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. Utilizing 50 independent indicators, the INDEX assesses performance across eight pillars of performance that span market-, value- and finance-based categories. Hospitals recognized as a Top 100 facility had one of the 100 highest overall scores among all Rural & Community Hospitals nationally.

“Despite unprecedented adversity rural providers continue to display resiliency and a steadfast commitment to their communities,” said Michael Topchik, National Leader, The Chartis Center for Rural Health. “Honoring the Top 100 is one of the highpoints of our year. We are delighted to recognize the exceptional performance and innovation of this year’s recipients, particularly in light of the extraordinary challenges facing America’s rural health safety net.”

Lake Region Healthcare has been ranked in the top 100 five out of the twelve years the INDEX has been published.
