“Last week, Lake Region Healthcare began an investigation as a result of unidentified network activity on our computer systems. We have since learned that we were the victim of a sophisticated ransomware attack. We immediately notified federal and local law enforcement and engaged a team of third-party experts to help investigate this incident. While we are still working to determine the scope of the attack, at this time, we do not have any evidence to suggest that data was stolen. However, our investigation is ongoing, and we will keep our community informed of any relevant developments, as appropriate.
We have restored many of our impacted systems and are providing most of our services as usual by operating largely off alternative systems. We continue to evaluate patient care on a case-by-case basis to ensure that we can continue to provide the highest quality of treatment to each individual we serve. At this time, we continue to recommend patients call to confirm their appointments before being seen, but there are no other action items needed right now. We appreciate the continued patience and trust of our community as we work to fully resolve this incident.”
