Biography

Dr. Julianne Gutzmer joined the Lake Region Healthcare (LRH) Medical Staff in 2008. She is board-certified in General Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Originally from North Branch, Michigan, Dr. Gutzmer graduated from the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana with a B.S. in Preprofessional Studies and English. She graduated from Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine, in East Lansing, MI with her medical degree. She received her General Surgical training at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.

Prior to joining LRH, Dr. Gutzmer was on the staff at Owatonna Clinic, Mayo Health Systems, in Owatonna, MN, and prior to that served as a general surgeon in Bad Axe, MI.

Dr. Gutzmer is a member of the Minnesota Medical Association, American Medical Association, American Society of Breast Surgeons, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. She is also an Advanced Trauma and Life Support instructor and is on the State Trauma Advisory Committee and Rural Trauma Advisory Council to the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. She offers a wide variety of surgical services including inpatient and outpatient general, laparoscopic, and emergency surgeries for appendix, colon/rectal, gallbladder, hemorrhoid, hernia, trauma, breast, chemotherapy port, and more. She also does minor office procedures such as cyst and lipoma removal.

Dr. Gutzmer and her husband, Dean, live in Fergus Falls with their children. Her interests and hobbies include reading, skiing, biking, and swimming.
