Lake Region Healthcare (LRH) is pleased to welcome Dr. Sheilaine Mabanta to our Radiation Oncology department at the Cancer Care & Research Center.
Dr. Mabanta received her Doctorate of Medicine from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. She completed an Internal Medicine Internship at Alton Oschner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans and a Radiation Oncology Residency at Shands Cancer Center at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, FL. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN.
Mabanta practiced at the Robert Boissoneault Oncology Institute in Florida for 13 years before her most recent practice at the Cancer Center at Wise Health System in Decatur, TX.
She is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and is Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology – Radiation Oncology.
When asked about choosing to join the team at LRH Mabanta said she enjoys small towns where she feels like she can help the community. “Dr. Barnes has built such a great radiation oncology division in association with Dr. Tate and Dr. Swenson that I feel very encouraged that I don’t have to build anything. I’ll just hopefully help promote the growth of the excellent care already being provided to the community,” she said.
Mabanta and her husband, John, have two children. In her spare time she enjoying walking, reading, cooking and above all, watching her children compete as high-level gymnasts. Both are verbally committed to the University of Denver for Division One gymnastics.
