Biography
Dr. Stephen Schmid, Podiatrist, joined our medical staff in 2013.
Dr. Schmid received his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine in 2010 at Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. He completed a post-graduate residency and served as Chief Resident of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery with Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery Credentials at the Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Schmid offers a full spectrum of Podiatry services at Lake Region Healthcare including forefoot, rear foot, and ankle problems as well as reconstructive surgery. He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA), and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is also dual board certified with the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS), and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM).
He served as President of the Minnesota Podiatric Medical Association (MPMA) in 2016-17 and as the Young Physician Liaison to the APMA Board of Trustees from 2017 to 2019. He continues to serve on the Board of Directors for the MPMA. Dr. Schmid also completed a year-long post-graduate certificate in surgical leadership at Harvard Medical School in 2019.
Having spent his childhood summers in the Brainerd lakes area, Stephen is happy to be in Minnesota and closer to family. He and his wife, Dr. Naomi Schmid like the sense of community here and feel it is a good place to raise a family.
Stephen enjoys woodworking, spending time at the lake, and being with his children.
