Driver rehabilitation program
Our team of occupational therapy practitioners recognizes the ability to drive is an important key to a person's independence. Driver evaluations are completed in this program to determine if individuals with any variety of medical conditions are safe to drive.
Outcomes of this evaluation may include recommendations to continue/resume driving, refrain from driving at this time, participate in driver training, drive with adaptive driving equipment or continue/resume driving with restrictions.
Our comprehensive driving evaluation includes a clinical and behind-the-wheel phase. All individuals participating in the program must meet the following criteria:
- Have a physician's referral.
- Have a learner's permit or valid driver's license.
- Have not experienced loss of consciousness or a seizure within the past six months.
We understand the ability to drive has significant importance for people and therefore we address driving issues with sensitivity and concern.
