Speech therapy

Speech and language pathologists are a part of the rehabilitation team who provide assessment and treatment services to patients with speech, language, cognitive or swallowing difficulties.

In speech pathology, we evaluate and treat outpatients and inpatients with receptive/expressive speech and language disorders. We also address cognitive impairments in memory/orientation, attention, reasoning, problem solving and judgment. In addition, we also evaluate and treat swallowing disorders and offer neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) as part of our treatment regimens which provides a more intensive intervention when appropriate.

We have one speech pathologist certified in Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT), which has proven effective for patients with Parkinson's disease.

We offer pediatric speech therapy services and specifically have a speech pathologist certified to treat sensory feeding issues.

Our outpatient services are offered at Lake Region Healthcare's Rehabilitation Therapies department. We also provide speech pathology services through home health agencies and nursing homes.
